Guadalupe Hot Chocolate

Guadalupe Hot Chocolate

This winter treat is great for celebrating all the winter holidays and feast days, particularly Our Lady of Guadalupe (December 12th).

GUADALUPE HOT CHOCOLATE (adapted from The Catholic Kids’ Cookbook by @haleycarrots)
*6 cups milk
*2 taps vanilla extract
*4 tablespoons sugar
* 1 tsp cinnamon
*1/8 tsp chili powder
*1/8 cayenne pepper (optional but definitely gives the cocoa a kick!)
*4 tbsp cocoa powder
*2 ounces bittersweet chocolate
-warm the milk and then add vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, chili powder, cayenne (if using), and cocoa powder. Whisk until smooth. Then add the chocolate until it is fully melted. Dollop with whipped cream!

*note: we have made the recipe as written and it’s decadent(!) but we recently picked up some prepared cocoa mix from our farmer and now just add the mix to the other ingredients and leave out the cocoa powder and sugar called for in the recipe).
